Mission et objectifs of the National Office of Sanitation and Drainage of Côte d’Ivoire
Missions
Our mission is as follows:
- Assisting the Ministry of Sanitation and Local Authorities
Ensuring a unifying role for public stakeholders in capacity building, legislation, regulations, asset management studies, and contract monitoring. - Delegated Project Management
Conducting studies, managing contracts, and monitoring implementation on behalf of the State. - Supervising Operating Contracts
Ensuring the compliance of operating contracts.
Objectifs
Primarily, to provide populations with access to adequate sanitation, both in rural and urban areas.
Specifically, ONAD is responsible for ensuring access to sanitation by:
- Urban areas: By building rainwater collection infrastructure to prevent flooding and disposing of wastewater to improve the living environment.
- Peri-urban areas: By installing appropriate sanitation equipment.
- Rural areas: By eliminating the practice of open defecation.
