On Friday, March 7, 2025, the Project Management Unit (PMU) officially accepted the wastewater treatment works completed in the Gourou Watershed, covering several key areas of Abidjan, including Angré Mahou, Sideci Nord, Sideci Sud, Adjamé Sector 1, and Adjamé Sector 2. This project, managed by the company COVEC, represents a major step forward for wastewater management and improved sanitation in these densely populated neighborhoods. The completion of the works was marked by the presence of key stakeholders, including ONAD, SODECI, DAUD, and representatives from the financial control department, highlighting the importance of this inter-institutional collaboration for the project’s success.
The completed infrastructure will now be managed by ONAD and SODECI for optimal operation. It will enable more efficient wastewater collection and treatment, thus contributing to the reduction of health and environmental risks in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital. The Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Public Health (MINHAS), through this project, reaffirms its commitment to providing modern solutions tailored to the sanitation challenges of the Abidjan Autonomous District, thereby offering local populations a healthier environment and an improved quality of life.
